CGG, a worldwide technology and HPC leader located in France, and European technology firm C-Questra, which specialises in CCUS from emission sources to sequestration locations, have inked a commercial collaboration agreement involving carbon capture, utilisation, and sequestration (CCUS). The alliance intends to accelerate up the development of carbon storage initiatives, notably in France which are vital to meeting global carbon neutrality targets.
With over 15 years of expertise, CGG provides exceptional industrial know-how and technology resources throughout the CCUS lifespan: From transforming long datasets and assessing possible storage locations to planning and monitoring CO2 injection operations. Sophie Zurquiyah, CEO of CGG, stated: "Carbon storage is a critical phase in the energy transition, and CGG is continuing to expand in this field, where we provide actual know-how and cutting-edge technology. After completing various projects and agreements in 2023, CGG plans to increase the distribution of its products in 2024."
Authorities and organisations around the world encourage a decline in carbon emissions, and CCUS is regarded as a critical technology to help reach these challenging objectives. The collaboration aims to demonstrate the relevance of environmental regulations and laws that are sustaining the growth of CCUS operations. C-Questra will contribute to a comprehensive carbon management strategy that is consistent with European Union climate change guidelines. This could give rise to increased trust and credibility among stakeholders, including legislators, shareholders, and the public at large, resulting in favourable policy frameworks.
"The objective behind the partnership agreement is simply to go considerably quicker. CGG provides people and technology resources, while C-Questra executes the projects, notably in France, by using the combined skills and experience of our technical teams spanning over 100 years, stated Walid Sinno", CEO of C-Questra. Boosted service offerings and technical improvements might contribute to a worldwide movement toward sustainability.
CGG strategies to provide C-Questra with experience and technological support to speed the development of specific carbon storage projects. Additionally, concentrating on the European market, particularly France, might offer perspectives on regional trends and the possibility of replication in other parts of the globe.
