Lloyd's Register, an acknowledged renewable energy certification body (RECB), has awarded Quoceant Ltd., an innovative offshore engineering consultant, an IECRE Feasibility Statement for its modular, quick-connect technology, Q-Connect. The Q-Connect system is developed to interface with various mooring and cabling technologies to enable offshore floating wind projects.
To facilitate offshore floating wind systems, wave, and tidal energy systems, floating substations, and other harsh environment floating offshore applications, the Q-Connect system is made to interface with various mooring and cabling technologies.
The statement was made after the Q-Connect system underwent a thorough evaluation in compliance with IEC TS 62600-4 and IECRE OD 310-4 as part of the Technology Qualification procedure.
In addition to congratulating Quoceant on obtaining the IECRE Feasibility Statement, Winston D'Souza, Global Technical Authority for Offshore Renewables at Lloyd's Register, stated: "The achievement of this Feasibility Statement for the Q-Connect system is a testament to the multifaceted competence of the engineering team at Quoceant that has demonstrated a solution to overcome mooring challenges faced by a diversity of offshore floating renewable technologies."

By cutting down on time spent offshore and in port waiting for favorable weather windows, Q-Connect's quick connection and disconnections also contribute to lower hook-up operation expenses.
