Aker BP Receives consent for exploration drilling by The Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil)

The Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) has granted permission for Aker BP's exploratory drilling in the North Sea offshore Norway on the Alvheim Deep potential (well 24/6-5). The well is scheduled to be drilled using Noble Corporation's Noble Integrator jackup.

The exploratory operation will be carried out within the limits of production licence 203, a maritime region awarded in 1996 and is active until February 2, 2032. with an operating timetable that extends until 2032. Aker BP, which owns 80% of the interest in it, will navigate the North Sea with ConocoPhillips Skandinavia, which owns the other 20%.

As Aker BP begins on this expedition, the corporation intends to not only discover Hydrocarbons beneath the North Sea as well as to strengthen its position as an energy sector leader. Alongside the Noble Integrator, Aker BP is equipped to address the obstacles of the aim.

The Noble Integrator was developed in 2014 as a Gusto MSC CJ70 X150 MD jack-up rig at Singapore's Keppel FELS shipyard. The jack-up is capable of operating in water depths of up to 492 feet and has a maximum drilling depth of 40,000 feet. The Alvheim Deep Prospect has a water depth of 120 metres.

The Noble Integrator rig picked up more work with Aker BP after the Norwegian company inked drilling and wells alliance agreements in January 2023 with Noble Corporation, Odfjell Drilling, and Halliburton to conduct drilling activities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).
