ZeroNorth, a Danish maritime technology and vessel optimisation company, has reached an agreement to acquire and administer the Fleet Automatic Statistics and Tracking (FAST) platform from Belgian tanker giant Euronav.
FAST captures complex high-frequency statistics in real-time from sensors across Euronav's fleet. The FAST platform has been integrated across the company's fleet, with ship reporting, travel optimisation, and ship optimisation centred around high-frequency data. ZeroNorth and Euronav are interested in incorporating FAST data and full capabilities into the ZeroNorth platform. As part of the agreement, the Belgian company will become a customer of ZeroNorth's entire platform offering.
The transfer of technology arrives at a moment while the international trade value chain is experiencing a rapid transformation, with digitization and data reaching.
Patrick Declerck, Operations Manager of Euronav, stated, "Euronav has a clear ambition to be a leader in sustainability and efficiency." We are happy to collaborate with ZeroNorth, which is already making a huge difference in allowing green global trade.
"Together, we are leading brands dedicated to improving the world. We think that this new collaboration will help us to accelerate the road to zero emissions in the maritime sector, allowing us to decarbonise today and navigate tomorrow. This will raise awareness among more stakeholders about the revolutionary power of data in their operations."
ZeroNorth has grown rapidly since its inception as a Maersk Tankers technology spinoff, with additional funding from Cargill and growth equity company PGS Equity. Examples of recent developments include the acquisition of the online platform Prosmar Bunkering in 2022 and the software platform for maritime fuel suppliers BTS in 2021.
"By acquiring FAST and integrating it into our existing platform, we believe we will boost the transformation and sustainability strategies of a large portion of the global fleet," said Pelle Sommansson, ZeroNorth's Chief Growth Officer and EVP.
"High-frequency data is the answer to many industry difficulties. Journey optimisation is critical to our industry's goal of zero emissions. That is why we are delighted to collaborate with Euronav's like-minded executives, since together we can improve the way our clients and the maritime industry function."
