Van Oord, a Dutch enterprise, has been given the assignment by FSRU Wilhelmshaven, an ENGIE, Tree Energy Solution, and TES joint venture. The contract addresses the development of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) jetty in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Van Oord will oversee the procurement and construction of the FSRU jetty, which will be constructed on monopiles to speed up the entire procedure. A total of 10 monopiles with scour protection will be erected.

The jetty is an element of Wilhelmshaven's second FSRU-based project, which is aided by Germany's LNG Acceleration Law, which was approved in May 2022 to close the supply gap and strengthen the nation's energy security. Platforms, catwalks, and furnishings are all built into the foundations. Additionally, a trailing suction hopper dredger is being used to dredge the berth pocket and turning basin.
The project is managed by the state-owned Deutsche Energy Terminal (DET), a 100% federal government unit that began functioning on January 16, 2023. DET incorporates signed charter agreements and is responsible for the technical as well as commercial operations of the state-rented floating LNG terminals at Wilhelmshaven, Brunsbüttel, Stade, and Lubmin.
