Global Energy Group, based in the United Kingdom, has been awarded a contract by Subsea7, a global leader in the execution of offshore projects and offerings, to construct subsea spools and anode sled structures for the East Kameleon project, an Aker BP North Sea field expansion. In 2022, Subsea7 received an award for the Trell & Trine field development, which entails an offshore tie-back nearly 21 kilometres to the Alvheim FPSO across the present East Kameleon subsea manifold.
The East Kameleon, situated in the middle North Sea, forms a component of the larger Alvheim field, which also includes the Kneler, Boa, and Kameleon structures in addition to the Viper-Kobra structures and Gekko uncovers. The permits and licence owners for PL203 are Aker BP (operator), ConocoPhillips Scandinavia AS, and Lundin Energy Norway AS. The work will be carried out from the Port of Nigg, which is a prominent multiple-user-friendly energy hub in the Cromarty Firth that contains some of the UK's largest fabrication and assembly facilities.
Dave MacKay, General Manager of Global Energy Group Fabrication said, "We are delighted to collaborate with Subsea7 to create critical subsea components, therefore maintaining the Port of Nigg's significant position in assisting the offshore energy industry.
At GEG, we understand the industry's critical position in the worldwide push for a sustainable future and the overall energy transition. We are determined to complete this project with an emphasis on innovation, safety, and environmental responsibility."
GEG persists at the top of the national shift in energy, advancing the UK's net-zero emissions and energy security objectives. Trell & Trine's connections, spools, safeguarding covers, and tie-ins are covered within the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) agreement.
