An agreement for several years has been signed by Fugro to assist Van Oord vessels in constructing wind farms around Europe. Under the terms of the three-year agreement, Fugro will provide construction equipment, skilled labour, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) systems, and related services to Van Oord's Calypso and Subsea Viking vessels.
During three years, the ROVs will be permanently positioned on the vessels. With the provision of geo-data for resource location and construction, Fugro will support cable laying, trenching, and survey activities across Europe to reduce project risk and maximise future operations.
There is an extension option in the contract.

"To fulfil the increased demand for renewable energy, Van Oord will need our experience and worldwide assistance to ensure the effective and successful implementation of their offshore wind developments.”
The Dutch company said that the successful completion of metocean predictions and studies, UXO surveys, survey and positioning services, and geoconsultancy assistance over the years led to the most recent contract win.
