Exail, a prominent high-tech industrial company that specialises in cutting-edge robotics, has announced the official launch of its latest product, the Phins 9 Compact, an inertial navigation system (INS) for all unmanned underwater vehicles.
The Phins 9 Compact is designed on a Fiber-Optic Gyroscope (FOG)-based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and features advanced accelerometers. With compact dimensions, a DVL-aided position accuracy of 0.1% TD, and a power consumption of under 7 W, it is optimal for compact subsea vehicles operating in demanding applications requiring minimal power.
The Phins 9 Compact is an advanced system that will develop new standards for subsea navigation in a wide range of applications, spanning survey-grade coastal and offshore seabed mapping, Inspection Repair and Maintenance (IRM), defense, and others.
"The Phins 9 Compact represents an important milestone in subsea navigation technology," said Maxime Le Roy, Exail's Subsea INS Product Manager. "Featuring a heading accuracy of 0.07° and pitch and roll accuracy of 0.01°, this system offers incredible dependability and navigation precision regardless of the most challenging environments. The system is an excellent choice for new-generation AUV producers and e-ROV operators wishing to reduce power without sacrificing data processing capabilities."
