Stephenson Operations is currently recruiting a PROJECT GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER to join our client’s team.

What will you do in this position?

As an OFFSHORE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER you will assist with the technical management of nearshore and offshore ground investigations and preparing data deliverables and data reports. You are responsible for the control of field resources, assisting the project management team, maintaining communication with project, reporting managers to report site progress and planning, following the in situ and offshore laboratory testing as well as processing and analysis of soil and/or rock samples.

What are your key responsibilities?

  • Involved in soils Geotechnical interpretation.
  • Responsible for data quality (processing data, data entry).
  • Responsible for laboratory tests (checking, correcting, assigning).
  • Accountable for reports (laboratory, interpretative & engineering reports).
  • Checking Geotechnical analyses.
  • Performing engineering analyses.
  • Responsible for liaison with the Client and other stakeholders.
  • Directing subcontractors.
  • Assisting in the production of field reporting and ground model building, as required.

Who are you?

  • You have a degree in Earth Sciences, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
  • You have previous experience with a Ground Investigation contractor.
  • You are capable of working with spreadsheets, SharePoint and being computer literate.
  • You are able to generate a safe and quality-based culture within the offshore and onshore team.
  • You are a great communicator verbally and written.
  • You are a good team player and able to form working relationships with Clients and colleagues at all levels.

Must have

  • Knowledge of the main geotechnical sampling techniques (e.g. VC, CPT, Borehole, TRT).
  • Good ability to write reports in English.
  • Past experience with Bentley gINT software is preferred.
  • Self-starter, motivated and target oriented, does not need supervision.
  • Experience with offshore, nearshore and onshore geotechnical investigations.
  • Knowledge of soil and rock description and testing and reporting.
  • Good knowledge of geology and soil mechanics.
  • Knowledge of Sequent Openground software is a nice to have.
