Together, Energia and Vargronn will generate 1.8 GW of offshore wind in Ireland.
Vargronn, a Norwegian offshore wind joint venture between Eni's Plenitude and HitecVision, and Ireland's Energia Group have teamed together to co-develop offshore wind projects in Ireland, the two parties said today.
The partners will begin by focusing on two locations in the North Celtic Sea and South Irish Sea, each with a potential capacity of up to 900 MW. Over the past four years, Energia Renewables has been developing the sites. It has finished seabed surveys, begun gathering airborne data on animals and birds, and begun getting ready for environmental impact assessments. The expertise and connections that Vargronn has in the supply chain for offshore wind are anticipated to be significant.
