Next Geosolutions (NextGeo) has acquired the vessel Deep Helder from the Dutch company SeaMar Subsea, renaming it NG Surveyor. This acquisition, part of NextGeo's growth and expansion plans, aims to strengthen the company’s fleet and meet the increasing demand in the offshore sector.
The newly acquired vessel will be utilized for geophysical, geotechnical, environmental, and unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey activities.
Built in 2014 in the Netherlands, NG Surveyor boasts a length of 64.8 meters, a width of 15.8 meters, a DP2 system, and 500m² of deck space. It can accommodate up to 48 personnel. NextGeo plans to refit the vessel with high-specification equipment, including three multibeam echosounders (MBS), a sub-bottom profiler (SBP), and an acoustic positioning system (USBL). This will enable the vessel to perform high-resolution surveys in shallow to mid waters and depths up to 11,000 meters, classified as "full ocean depth."
The total investment in the acquisition amounts to €21 million, with an additional €4 million allocated for purchasing and installing state-of-the-art survey equipment.
The financial backing for the transaction came from Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) and Credito Emiliano (Credem), providing €12 million in total. Credem contributed €6 million with a ten-year repayment term, while CDP offered another €6 million with an eight-year repayment term.
