Our client is a Marine Survey and Environmental Consultancy company with its own accredited Laboratories. Our client specializes in the marine environment and offshore projects. Our client brings extensive experience in delivering geophysical, geotechnical, and environmental survey services to industries including oil & gas, renewables, submarine cables, and ports.
Key Responsibilities
The Offshore Survey Manager reports to the division Survey Manager. He is the Company authority during the vessel mobilization and acquisition phases. The Offshore Survey Manager oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of offshore marine survey projects. This role ensures the successful execution of survey activities, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
The Offshore Survey Manager is dispatched on the vessel to act as Party Chief, she/he coordinates the vessel mobilization, and the survey team manages equipment, and ensures that all project objectives are met within the specified timelines. His/her primary mission is to maximize vessel utilization and minimize vessel standby. Furthermore:
- Create, validate, and propose geophysics methodologies (Choice of equipment, procedures, and software) in line with Marine Survey industry best practices.
- Present the most cost-efficient and quality-optimized geotechnical techniques to deliver projects in accordance with contract requirements and within budget constraints.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise vessel marine operations to ensure the project is executed according to contractual specifications.
- Represent the Company on the vessel as Party Chief during operations.
- Lead the mobilization and demobilization of survey vessels and equipment.
- Lead and manage the offshore survey team, including surveyors, technicians, and support staff promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Liaise with client representatives and other internal stakeholders to provide regular updates and address any issues or concerns.
- Develop and implement survey plans, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budget constraints.
- Conduct briefings and debriefings, ensuring clear communication of project goals, safety procedures, and operational plans.
- Oversee the setup, calibration, and operation of survey equipment.
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of collected survey data, performing quality control checks and troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
- Coordinate data processing and preliminary analysis, providing technical insights and recommendations.
- Prepare and submit detailed daily, weekly, and project completion reports, including survey findings, data quality assessments, and project milestones.
- While onshore, work closely with the Asset & Logistics Manager ensuring equipment proper maintenance and readiness for deployment.
- Promote a culture of safety within the team and provide safety training as needed.
- Report and investigate any incidents, accidents, or near-misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain comprehensive records of survey operations, equipment usage, and personnel activities.
- Monitor acquisition progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Carry out other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Candidate Profile
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in geoscience disciplines.
- 10 years of demonstrated offshore experience including Party Chief roles for hydrographic campaign.
- Proficient with MS Office, QGIS, Qinsy, and EIVA Navisuite software, Knowledge in the following would be a plus: gINT, Kingdom.
- Technical knowledge of MBES, SSS, SBP, MAG, and UHRS surveys (Acquisition + Processing). Geotechnical equipment knowledge is a plus.

- QHSE focused.
- English mandatory (100%), Spanish desired, French is a plus.
