Poland has officially begun construction of Cape Pomerania, a 10 billion zloty (€2.3 billion) deepwater port and container terminal in Świnoujście. The project is the largest investment in the more than 75-year history of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority and one of the most significant port infrastructure developments currently underway in the Baltic Sea.
The new port will feature a 17-meter-deep basin and a 1.3-kilometer main quay, capable of accommodating up to three large container vessels simultaneously, including ships up to 400 meters in length. Once completed, the terminal is expected to handle 2 million TEUs annually, significantly strengthening Poland's position as a logistics hub for Central and Eastern Europe while supporting both commercial and strategic maritime operations.
Construction has now entered the execution phase, beginning with the development of a temporary technical access road that will support the transport of equipment and materials for the main port works. The project is expected to enhance regional supply chains, improve Baltic Sea connectivity, and increase the competitiveness of Poland's maritime sector.
