For their new 12 billion NOK investment in the Troll Phase 3 - Stage 2 Project, Equinor and its partners in the Troll A license have selected Ocean Installer for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) as the SURF Contractor. Equinor (30.58%) acts as the operator of the Troll partnership, with the remaining partners being Petoro (56%), AS Norske Shell 8.10%, TotalEnergies EP Norge 3.69%, and ConocoPhillips Skandinavia 1.62%.
The 36" gas flowline's four massive pipeline termination structures, five 20" spools, the subsea pig launcher and receiver (PLR), six kilometres of 4.5" MEG Line, and protective coverings are all covered by the EPCI contract. Along with trenching and pre-commissioning, the assignment also includes installing the OneSubsea umbilicals and subsea production equipment.
With a first campaign starting in 2025, this SURF EPCI contract, valued at over 1 billion NOK, contains a significant fabrication scope and offshore work spread over three years.
'We are thrilled to work closely with Equinor and our regional manufacturing partners to complete the Troll Phase 3-Stage 2 project, as it is a fantastic fit for our skills.' This recognition demonstrates the continued trust that our clients have in us for ambitious, intricate, and time-sensitive projects. Additionally, the Troll B Flowline Replacement award shows the variety of projects, from large EPCIs to smaller T&I projects, that we can assist our clients with, according to Ocean Installer CEO Kevin Murphy.
Eight additional wells from two new templates with subsea controls extended from preexisting templates are part of the Troll Phase 3 project's Stage 2. Along with performing Troll A modification work, the project will lay a new 36-inch gas flowline as a tie-back to the Troll A platform.
The engineering work has already started at the offices of Ocean Installer in Stavanger and Oslo. Most of the fabrication will be distributed to Norwegian subcontractors.
