The Norwegian Industrial Patent Office (Patentstyret) has awarded a new patent to Argeo Robotics AS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Argeo AS, protecting the creative design of the high-performance electromagnetic system "Argeo Listen."
A new sensor configuration that offers even higher dependability, better signal, and superior detection for subsea vehicles (such as AUVs and ROVs) is protected by the patent. It makes it possible for submerged subsea pipes to be continuously and contactlessly inspected. It may also identify corrosion protection system integrity issues and damage in subsurface pipelines that are inaccessible to traditional ROV touch techniques.
As to the company's statement, the Argeo Listen system has been operational for more than a year and has shown to be highly effective in pipeline inspections for prominent oil and gas companies as well as many clients in the maritime mineral exploration domain.

"The installation of Argeo Listen on our Hugin Superior fleet of AUVs has provided us a competitive edge in our markets and has also produced outstanding results for our clients, allowing informed decision-making," according to Argeo CEO Trond F. Crantz.
"I am pleased to see our AUV's electromagnetic sensor system design demonstrating outstanding performance in the market," says Argeo's CTO, Thorbjørn Rekdal. Getting this invention protected by a patent strengthens our position even further."
Additionally, the system is essential for AUV-based surveys for marine mineral exploitation. This most recent patent of Argeo Robotics is the fifth (5) successful grant for Argeo from its Intellectual Rights portfolio.
