A contract has been signed between PGE Baltica, a PGE Group entity, and ENERGOPROJEKT-KATOWICE S.A. to execute the conceptual design of Offshore Wind Farm Baltica 1. Electrical analyses, such as power flow under fault and steady-state situations, short-circuit analysis, and early harmonic analyses, are included in the job scope. Analyses of cost and dependability will be conducted concurrently, among other things.
According to PGE, the conceptual design is a crucial step in the investment process for building the offshore wind farm as it attempts to choose the best power evacuation method. The final documentation will enhance design work related to the offshore wind farm Baltica 1's power evacuation.
The third project in PGE's Baltica Offshore Wind Farm portfolio is the 900 MW Baltica 1. PGE and Ørsted are developing the first two, Baltica 2 and Baltica 3, which are in an advanced development stage.
Under the terms of PGE Group's offshore program, the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm will be built in two stages, Baltica 2 and Baltica 3, with a maximum installed capacity of 2.5 GW by 2030. Together with Ørsted, several initiatives are being developed. Subsequently, the Group's portfolio will include the Baltica 1 Wind Power farm, which has a capacity of around 0.9 GW, after 2030.
The three Baltica Offshore Wind Farm projects are situated in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Łeba in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, approximately 80 km offshore.
By the end of 2027, the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 is anticipated to be finished, and by 2030, the 1 GW Baltica 3 will be operational. After 2030, the Baltica 1 wind farm will be put into service. The project has concluded the first full year of the meteorological campaign and wind measurement, and it has a site permission and connection agreement in place.
In addition to employing geotechnical and structural designers for geotechnical surveys at the array site and along the export cable route, PGE Baltica also began ground surveys for the onshore portion of the project this year. Preliminary geotechnical surveys of the seabed and geological surveys for the HDD landfall were also contracted out.
