Industry representatives take part in a ceremonial groundbreaking event for a major infrastructure project, marking the start of construction activities.

Allseas joined partners and stakeholders in Taiwan for a ceremony formally marking the start of the Yongan–Tongxiao 2 (YT2) offshore natural gas pipeline project and highlighting its role within the island’s energy system.

Awarded by CPC Corporation Taiwan to a 50/50 partnership between Allseas and Boskalis, YT2 is a major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project. It is among the longest offshore gas pipelines to be installed in shallow waters.

Within the partnership, Allseas is responsible for offshore pipeline installation and pre-commissioning activities, including the pre-lay installation of concrete mattresses. These works will be executed using advanced pipelay vessels, drawing on Allseas’ experience in large-scale offshore pipelay projects.

Boskalis’ scope includes extensive nearshore and offshore works, such as landfalls, trenching, backfilling, and the protection of pipeline and cable crossings.

Offshore execution is scheduled to commence in 2027. Once completed, the 232-kilometre-long, 36-inch pipeline will connect the Yongan LNG Terminal in southwestern Taiwan with the Tongxiao LNG Transfer Station in the northwest. Running parallel to the existing YT1 pipeline, YT2 will increase the capacity and resilience of Taiwan’s natural gas transmission network.
